KAA Announces Mass Auction From 9 Airports Including JKIA; How to Bid

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced a mass auction of office equipment and motor vehicles from nine airports, including the three major ones.

In a notice carried in local dailies on Tuesday, July 5, the authority disclosed that the items up for sale include used furniture and seats, used fire extinguisher cylinders as well as computers and other ICT equipment.

Other equipment include general electro-mechanical parts, general building hardware materials as well as used motor vehicles.

The exercise is slated to run for three days beginning Tuesday, July 12 at Eldoret International Airport. At the venue, they will consolidate items for disposal at Kisumu International Airport and Lokichogio Airport.

On Wednesday, July 13, two separate auction events will be held including one at Authority's headquarters which will have items from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The other one will take place at Wilson Airport in Nairobi which will include items from Wajir Airport as well as Isiolo Airport.

On Friday, July 15, the event will be held at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa compounding items from Malindi Airport and Ukunda Airstrip.

In the notice, the Authority directed that interested applicants are open to visiting the venues between Monday, July 5 and Friday, July 8, 2022.

"All interested purchasers are requested to view the items as per the dates shown above and verify their respective details as these are not warranted by neither the Auctioneer nor KAA as the items are being offered for sale "As-is-where-is" basis.

How to Bid

Applicants are advised to pay a deposit of Kshs 25,000.00 per item on auction after downloading the catalog from Kaa.go.ke tenders section.

"Where the bid price is lower than the deposit price, the bidder will be refunded the difference between the bid price

and the deposit amount on the presentation of the receipt.

"However, where the bid price is higher than the deposit, the bidder will need to pay not less than 25% of the total value. The Balance must be paid within 24 Hours failure to which the award will be canceled and the deposit forfeited and the item sold to the second-highest bidder," the notice added.

The winning bidders will be expected to pay for and collect the items from the host grounds within 7 days from the date of the auction failure to which, the Authority will charge storage at a rate of Ksh500 per day until collection. If the items are not collected within 14 days, the items will be forfeited to the Authority

The exercise is being undertaken by Keysian Auctioneers.
