A video of Farmers Party leader, Irungu Nyakera, engaging in a violent physical altercation with his sister, Wambui Njoki, has since gone viral.

The video shared on social media platforms on Wednesday, July 20, showed Njoki and the former Principal Secretary engaging in a heated verbal confrontation while an unidentified man was holding her back.

She accused Nyakera of intimidating her and attempting to evict her from a house which she claimed he had no rights over.

"Today is a sad day for women of this country. I have been suffering in silence and out there I put on a brave face. I have been thrown out of my house with my child," Njoki stated.

"To culminate it all, in broad daylight, my brother brought his bodyguard to my premise and together they beat me up. I am not okay, I might end my own life, this is too much," she added.

Njoki, who is vying for a Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Murang'a county, is seen in the video being held back by a man who was urging her to calm down and talk to Nyakera so that the two can resolve their issues.

However, she insisted that the man let her go and after he refused, she hit him on the face, rattling Nyakera who then struck back with a slap.

The two then engaged in a prolonged confrontation before the video recording was stopped.

Njoki is vying for the Kiru Ward MCA seat on a Jubilee Party ticket, arguing that this has been one of the reasons she fell out with her brother who is a member of the opposing Kenya Kwanza alliance.

The fallout and subsequent physical confrontation between the siblings come amid accelerated campaigns in Murang'a with politicians targeting the 621,161 registered voters spread across 1,131 polling stations in seven constituencies.

The former PS has been pushing for tea reforms and promised that if elected as the next governor of Murang'a county, his regime will support good governance, youth, and champion for women empowerment.

"We are concerned about the increase in drug and alcohol abuse, and better health care for the people. We shall also focus on education, and bring together professionals and business people,” Nyakera stated in the past.

He also stated that products such as coffee are stolen arguing that co-operative societies do not have enough funds to protect the products after harvest.
