Recounting the events, Njiru noted that one of the world's top Orthopedic Surgeons from Boston, England, Dinesh Patel, was flown to the country to operate on Moi.

The former press secretary affirmed that watching his boss laying helpless on the hospital bed was the lowest moment in his career.

"Something which made me traumatised is when we had an accident together with former president Daniel Moi in Limuru on July 29, 2006. When we were taken to Nairobi hospital, our knees were terribly damaged. One of the top surgeons from Boston England, Dinesh Patel, was flown to the country,. When he was operated on, General Jackson Mulinge was also flown from South Africa to be operated at the same hospital."

"These two people looked helpless despite a few years prior being two of the most powerful leaders in the country. That was my lowest moment as I found someone whom I considered to be my protector, helper, and boss laying there helpless. We had a head-on collision with a pickup that was being driven by Catholic fathers in Limuru. The fathers stayed in the hospital for over a year. I was in hospital for 2 months and the president was in hospital for less than one month upon which he was taken home," he noted.

Njiru pointed out that a makeshift hospital was created at his Kabarak home, Nakuru county, where a section of nurses and doctors were deployed to attend to him.

Further, the former Moi aide urged Kenyans to vote in a peaceful manner and not create unnecessary tension caused by the political class.

"There is no difference between Deputy President William Ruto, Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga, his handshake partner president Uhuru Kenyatta, Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka and ANC's Musalia Mudavadi. All those people are political cousins. They can turn against you within minutes as they are one clan.

"Ruto is 55 years old. They must learn to love his face because they will see it for the next 40 years. This is because when he leaves office, he will get various retirement perks. These people are not going anywhere, just reorganising themselves. If they pass, their wives will earn half what the politician earns. Hence, I urge Kenyans to vote peacefully," he stated.
