A new poll by TIFA shows that President Uhuru Kenyatta enjoys considerable support in the country over a number of projects the Jubilee administration has accomplished.

The poll released on Friday, July 29, showed that Kenyans were satisfied with Uhuru's infrastructure development record.

Uhuru's approval rating was boosted by projects such as the flagship Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), which is a transport component aimed at delivering Vision 2030, making Kenya a middle-income country by the year 2030.

Uhuru's approval rating as he exits State House after ten years is pegged on Ksh1.4 trillion projects he had commissioned across the country.

Another area the President enjoys considerable support is security. Kenyans who were polled credited him for improving security in the country, with a majority citing improvement since he took over.

His administration was hailed for reducing the activities of criminal gangs and boosting the morale and operation of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) which has been key in fighting terrorism in the country and the region in general.

The third area where Kenyans noted significant improvement by the Uhuru government was in social protection programmes.

In 2018, Uhuru launched a social protection programme dubbed Inua Jamii where senior citizens over 70 years are given stipends by the government.

This is in addition to more than 300,000 over 65 year old who were already receiving the targeted Older Persons Cash Transfer.

Uhuru - during the launch of the programme - stated that he was keen on ensuring senior citizens live in dignity and have a level of financial independence and stability.

“This programme will ensure that our senior citizens get a Ksh4,000 stipend to live a dignified and respectable life,” he stated at the time.

The TIFA poll also showed that Kenyans were not satisfied with the commodity pricing and rampant corruption in the Uhuru administration.
