He further noted that the officer was a great role model who left behind a rich legacy that should be emulated.

“We will forever cherish Lt. Col. (Rtd) Samuel Ngure Matu for his commitment to the service of our beloved country. His diligence and skills earned him a position as Chief Security Officer at the Toyota Kenya Ltd after retiring from the military.

“We thank God for having given him to us as a gift. We appreciate his service to the community, especially the role he played in church and in the Military Officers Association," Uhuru stated.

As ADC, Ngure was tasked with serving as the personal assistant to Kenya's founding president and bring the Head of State up to speed with what was happening countrywide.

The Aide De Camp is also entrusted with receiving gifts and other items on behalf of the president as well as escorting him (President) from the State House into a waiting car.

The escort should also secure the Head of State's personal items including mobile phones among others.

Former President Daniel Moi was served by a total of six Aide De Camp Officers including Brigadier Samuel Macharia, Major-General Peter Ikenye, Brigadier Wilson Boinnet, Brigadier Alex Sitienei, Lieutenant General Jonathan Rono and Brigadier Kemei Kipng’etich.
