Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to explain how he acquired a title for a 2,000-acre ranch in Nakuru County at the age of 11.

In a fiery press conference on Sunday, July 31, Ngunjiri claimed that he had a copy of the original title deed that was reportedly issued in 1972 - indicating Uhuru owned 2,000 acres as part of the 40,000-acre Gicheha farm owned by the Kenyatta family.

The MP questioned how the current President was able to have his name on a title deed in 1972 - while he was only 11 years of age.

"I have a copy of the title of Gicheha Farm, 2,000 acres which you got in 1972, how old were you to get a title deed?" the outspoken MP posed.

Ngunjiri warned Azimio politicians including Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho to desist from threatening to take over pieces of land owned by Deputy President William Ruto.

Joho had earlier indicated that it would be his first job to reclaim 2,500 acres ranch which DP explained that he acquired from former Taveta MP Basil Criticos.

The MP stated that any investigations on land should start with the huge tracts of land he claimed were owned by the Kenyatta family.

"Joho has no right to say he will get back Ruto's 2,500 acres of land in Kilifi. You have no right to make such a move when it is clear the DP acquired the land rightfully," Ngunjiri added.

Ngunjiri claimed the first family had over 100,000 acres of land split all over the country and should start explaining how they acquired them.

He added the family of Kenya's first president owned large tracts of land which included 11, 000 acres located in Limuru, over 60,000 acres in Kwale and others in the Rift Valley.

"Bring it on Mr President. We respect you because you are president, but after exiting, you won't need our respect anymore," added Ngunjiri.

Gicheha Farm was bought by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta in 1972 but is currently occupied by Uhuru. It is located one kilometre off Nakuru-Eldoret highway and hosts over 1,000 animals.

The farm is also home to imported beef cattle that includes the Annkole from Uganda and Brangus, Charolais, Hereford and Brahman.

According to Looters and Grabbers, a book authored by former MP Joe Khamisi, most of the properties obtained by Mzee Kenyatta other than his five-acre farm in Gatundu were registered in other people’s names.

It is in addition to the 100-acre farm in Dandora on the outskirts of Nairobi, for example, was registered: “a trustee for minor son Uhuru.” The minor son later became the fourth President of Kenya.
