Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha was caught in yet another controversial video dismissing a man in a rather humiliating manner.
The incident occurred while he was inspecting and commissioning new Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) phase two classroom at Bar Union Secondary School in Kisumu County on Tuesday, August 2.
In the clip that has received widespread condemnation, a man was seen handing Magoha an irrigation jerrican for a tree that had been erected in his honour.
"Get away from me, you smell of alcohol," the CS shouted at the young man, in the company of police officers, teachers and students.
It was not the first time Magoha had been spotted making appalling remarks in public, some of which have seen his powers as CS reduced.
In November 2020, the CS was seen reprimanding a grey-haired senior citizen before dismissing him.
"The situation on the ground is not good," he stated as he took issue with the cleanliness levels of the Langas Primary School compound in Eldoret.
The visibly senior citizen tried to respond to his boss' query on the matter - noting that the issue would be handled and a report prepared.
"I am not talking about a report, I am talking about what is here on the ground. If I say you are a fool would I be lying?" he posed to the official.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) was forced to withdraw Magoha's powers to manage the human resource functions it had delegated him.
On July 26 this year, the CS was also captured in a clip during a presser when he demanded to know if an NTV journalist was an Al Shabaab representative. The journalist was a female covered in a hijab.
"First of all, where do you come from? Who are you representing? Because if you are representing Al Shabaab, I will not answer you," the professor of medicine remarked.
The video caught the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) attention as the body argued the sentiments undermined the journalist's freedom of religion which is enshrined in the constitution.
The Minister issued an apology to the journalist and the Muslim community over his controversial Al Shabaab remarks.
"Magoha has apologised to the journalist in the presence of Muslim leaders in Nairobi. In line with the Islamic tradition of forgiveness, we forgive him. May Allah SWT (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) forgive us and guide him," stated Hassan Ole Naado, SUPEK Chair.
