Nairobi woman representative Esther Passaris introduced the tailor behind the eye-catching outfit she donned during Azimio's last campaign rally at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday, August 6.
The lawmaker lauded Dominic Owino, a Nairobi-based tailor, for always cementing her sense of style while attending political and personal events.
"Hats off to Dominic Owino, aka Japolo, for yet another stunning dress. One of my favourite designers; many of my parliamentary colleagues now swear by his name," she stated.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke Owino revealed that he met Passaris in 2017 when she was making her second stab at the Woman Rep seat.
"I met Passaris in 2017 when she asked me to design a dress for her for the ODM nominations. Since then, she has contacted me for all her African-print attire," he stated.
Owino intimated that the MP was impressed by his work such that she only had to put in the requests for dresses and leave all the design work to him.
"All she had to do was call and inform me that she had an occasion, whether political of personal. Without going back for her approval, I would do a sketch and source the materials.
"She gets to see the clothes for the first time when I deliver them for fitting and she always loves them," he stated
The Nairobi-based tailor disclosed that has also worked with Azimio flag-bearer Raila Odinga, for whom he has done a number of shirts. Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro is also in his clientele.
Passaris rocked a blue short-sleeved column dress for the final Azimio rally with details running down from her collar and on the sleeves - incorporating the coalition party's colours.
The MP who is defending her seat on an Azimio ticket has been synonymous with her elegant style. She let in her supporters on the man behind her outfit.
She became the second top female politician to reveal tailors to whom they have been loyal. On June 9, Azimio running mate Martha Karua introduced her long-time tailor Flo Masinde to the public.
