A Presiding Officer was arrested and detained at Kacheliba police station after he was caught allegedly altering presidential results from Alale ward.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 10, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) noted that it was following the matter closely before filing the necessary charges.

The incident mirrored a similar occurrence at Nasokol tallying centre where another Presiding Officer was apprehended allegedly attempting to edit Form 34A.

The ODPP noted that it was monitoring the electoral process closely in order to ensure justice was served.

The ODPP highlighted a couple of incidents across the country, promising to follow up and deliver justice in each case.

In Kisauni, Mombasa county, a Presiding Officer and Deputy Presiding Officer were charged by the ODPP for willingly failing to count ballot papers for Members of National Assembly, County Assemblies and Woman Representative.

In Nandi Hills constituency, ODPP noted that it was following up a case involving ten suspects after ballot papers allegedly went missing on voting day.

The prosecutor's office requested IEBC's movement register before it makes a decision to charge.

In Migori County, a polling clerk was accused of preventing a voter from casting their votes. The court granted the ODPP's application to extend the time to allow police to conclude investigations.

Further, in Narok, three polling clerks were accused of plucking four ballot papers for the MCA post. The prosecutor's office noted that the court extended the time to allow investigators to conclude the probe.

In another situation, the Kilifi ODPP charged a Presiding Officer and polling clerk at Mtomodoni, Shimo la Tewa Ward for issuing two extra ballot papers to some voters.
