Data from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) indicates that a total of 16 counties have finished transmitting Form 34As from their respective polling stations to the National Tallying Centre at the Bomas of Kenya.

A spot check by Kenyans.co.ke on the IEBC Form 34As showed that Bomet, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kericho and Uasin Gishu counties were among the first counties to submit all their presidential result forms.

In Western Kenya, Bungoma, Homa Bay, Nyamira, Siaya and Vihiga recorded 100 per cent transmission.

On the other hand, Embu, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Nyandarua, Nyeri, and Tharaka Nithi are counties from the Mount Kenya region to complete the exercise.

Makueni county is the only Lower Eastern county to have recorded 100 per cent transmission.

Additionally, by the time of going to press, IEBC reported that it had received 99.18 per cent of Form 34As with Wajir being the only county that recorded less than 90 per cent transmission.

The North Eastern county is currently at 72 per cent.

Delays in the county were explained by the postponement of elections in the area following insecurity incidents witnessed before the voting process commenced.

"Elections in Eldas Constituency were postponed due to security reasons. We are happy to report that elections commenced at 6 am today," IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati stated on Tuesday, August 9.

The electoral body is expected to announce the final results of the presidential vote within seven days from the voting day.

Chebukati in an earlier press briefing noted that the exercise will speed up once the verification of Form 34As begins.

"Results in the public portal are the same that the Commission will use to declare the results. We have given agents, media and certain stakeholders access to the same. Declaration of presidential results will not happen today.

"Collating of results from 290 constituencies is underway and returning officers will deliver form 34B afterwards," Chebukati added.
