List of Female MPs Who Have Won August 9 Polls So Far

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has declared several female politicians winners of various elective seats in the August 9 polls.

A number of seasoned politicians retained their seats while a number of new entrants making their debut in elective politics.

Jayne Kihara of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) retained her Naivasha parliamentary seat after garnering 44,882 votes.

In Busia county, Mary Emase of UDA triumphed over Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and Geoffrey Omuse to win in the Teso South parliamentary contest.

Emase got 18,059 votes against Omuse's 16,423. The incumbent governor Ojaamong came third with 11,165 votes.

In Kipiriri parliamentary race, Wanjiku Muhia (UDA) defeated Amos Kimunya, the National Assembly Leader of Majority.

Agnes Pareiyo of the Jubilee Party clinched the Narok North seat after garnering 20,821 votes against Martin Kamwaro, who came second with 18,822 votes.

Suba North MP, Millie Odhiambo, retained her seat on an ODM ticket. She got 27,130 votes against her closest competitor James Akali of the Federal Party who got 18,151 votes.

In Kibwezi East constituency, voters re-elected Jessica Mbalu to represent them in the National Assembly. Vying on Wiper party, Mbalu polled 11,395 votes.

Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda retained her after being declared the winner with 15,855 votes. 

Vying on a KANU ticket, Lesuuda garnered 15,855 votes, followed by former Maralal ward MCA Elly Stephen Loldepe with 7,004.

Marianne Kitany, former Chief of Staff in the Office of Deputy President William Ruto, was declared the winner of Aldai parliamentary seat.

Kitany - who vied on the UDA ticket - got 42,015 votes trouncing Cornelly Serem, who got 13,309 votes.

Other female Legislators who won polls in different parliamentary races include Kandara's Alice Wahome (UDA), Maragua's Mary Wamaua (UDA), and Malindi's Amina Mnyazi (ODM).

Rachel Nyamai won Kitui South Parliamentary seat on a Jubilee ticket, Eve Obara won Kabondo Kasapul MP seat on ODM ticket.

Gathoni Wamuchomba clinched the Githunguri seat on the UDA ticket and Irene Njoki defeated Kimani Ngunjiri to win the Bahati MP seat on a jubilee Party ticket.
