Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi's live interview on NTV was cut short as he alleged that Deputy President William Ruto's aide, Davis Chirchir, had been arrested at the Bomas of Kenya.

Speaking at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) on Thursday, August 11, the digital strategist claimed that the ally of the DP was picked by police at Bomas - the National Tallying Centre.

As Itumbi began to make the allegations, the interview was abruptly discontinued by the TV station.

Before the interview, Itumbi had also alleged that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Communications Director, Wanjohi Githae, had been arrested.

"UDA Communications Director Wanjohi Githae and DP's Chief of Staff Davis Chirchir have been arrested," Itumbi claimed.

However, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator-elect, Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, stated that Chrichir was fine.

Senator Aaron Cheruiyot echoed Murkomen's sentiments. Nonetheless, he claimed that there were attempts to arrest Chirchir as he left Bomas of Kenya.

"Davis Chirchir is fine and okay. The desperate outgoing system tried to arrest him for unknown reasons as he was leaving Bomas.

"Thanks to vigilant members of the public who came to his rescue. When it is the final day of the monkey, all trees are slippery," Cheruiyot stated.

Our attempts to reach Githae proved futile as his phone was switched off.

Kenyans.co.ke could not independently verify Itumbi's allegations as most of our calls to UDA insiders went unanswered.

Chirchir served as the Energy Cabinet Secretary in Jubilee's first term administration. However, he was replaced by former CS Charles Keter after being axed.

Chirchir later joined Ruto's team in President Uhuru Kenyatta's second term and has played a key role in the DP's presidential campaigns.
