Azimio leader Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua convened the first meeting with a section of Mt. Kenya politicians who were floored in the past General Election at a Hotel in Nairobi on Wednesday, August 31.

The meeting came in the wake of the ongoing hearings of the presidential election petition at the Supreme Court challenging William Ruto's win.

According to Karua, they met with the leaders to show a sign of solidarity despite having lost in the General Election.

"I accompanied my Principal Raila Odinga to a meeting with Azimio leaders from Central Kenya," Karua stated.

Regarding the ongoing case at the apex Court, Karua stated that the meeting was a clarion call to the leaders as they await the court verdict.

"It was great to note that belief in the power of our democracy is still strong; and that we are more united than ever in our march to justice," she added.

The leaders present included Jubilee party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, former Nyandarua County Governor Francis Kimemia,  former Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega, and former Majority Leader Amos Kimunya,

Others were former Nyeri Twon MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, ex-Igembe North MP Maoka Maore and Priscila Nyokabi.

Kega, termed the team present as Raila and Karua's foot soldiers in Mt. Kenya and affirmed that they were set to wining the war.

The war in subject is the ongoing election petition at the highest court of the land. The politicians were casualties of Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) wave that swept across the region, knocking off political veterans and kingpins.

"Baba's Central infantry. We lost the battles but we shall win the war," Kega stated.

Details of the meeting remained scanty, happening hours after the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta met a section of Mombasa County leaders.
