Azimio running mate Martha Karua on Monday, September 5 expressed her dissatisfaction with the judgment delivered by the Supreme Court on the presidential election petition.
In a statement, Karua faulted the seven-judge-bench ruling but noted that she will respect the court's decision.
“The court has spoken. I respect but disagree with the findings,” Karua stated
The Seven Judge bench led by Chief Justice Martha Koome unanimously dismissed the seven petitions that were consolidated into one terming it as hot air.
"The presidential election number E005 of 2022 as consolidated with presidential election petition numbers E001, 2,3,4 7 and 8 of 2022 are hereby dismissed," Koome stated.
Other public figures in the Azimio wing also reacted to the Supreme Court judgment that saw the court uphold William Ruto’s victory.
COTU Boss Francis Atwoli congratulated the President-elect as he urged workers across the country to remain peaceful.
“During the COTU executive meeting on 17th August, we resolved that immediately after the Supreme Court judgment, we must thank and congratulate the victor. Consequently, we congratulate President William Ruto. We appeal to workers and Kenyans, in general, to remain peaceful,” Atwoli Stated.
On his part, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino said that Raila Odinga will remain to be his hero even.
“Father you will forever be my Hero. They played you all along was a Long Con. We live to battle another day,” Babu noted
Further, Lawyer Donald Kipkorir who represented Raila Odinga during the Supreme Court petition congratulated William Ruto and pledged his allegiance and loyalty to his presidency.
“Dear William Samoei Ruto, congratulations on being our 5th President. As a lawful citizen, I hereby pledge my allegiance and loyalty to your Presidency.
However, Korir also lauded Raila Odinga terming him that he is the president Kenya will forever miss. He also said he had given the former premier his total support since 2005.
“Dear Raila Amolo Odinga, since 2005, I have given you all my total & absolute support. You are the president Kenya will forever miss,”
The president-elect will be sworn into office on or before Tuesday, September 13.
