Arap Uria Nominated for West African Sports Personality of the Year Award

Popular Kenyan comedian Meshack Kiprop Biwott also known as Arap Uria has been nominated for the 2022 Sports Personality of the Year award by the DMOMA Awards, a West African-based excellence award.

Biwott, who became popular through mimicking legendary sports commentator Peter Drury, was nominated due to his excellent performance.

“This is to officially notify you that you have been nominated for 2022 DMOMA Awards of excellence and leadership by at least 3 different online media platforms for the following category: Sports Personality of The Year.

“This is in recognition of your tremendous contribution to nation building and selfless service to humanity and excellent performance.

“2022 DMOMA Awards will be the official 3rd edition of the prestigious award of excellence and leadership in West Africa, organized by Online Media Practitioners,” read a statement from the organizers.

Reacting to the news, a delighted Meshack took to social media to thank his fans for trusting in him.

“Scaling the heights day in day out. Nominated for DMOMA Awards 2022 in Nigeria. Many thanks to the organizers, fans and all who trust in me. God bless you,” read his statement.

The purpose of the award is to celebrate leadership and excellence from various endeavors and disciplines in West Africa, including sports, engineering, academics, entertainment and medical fields.

According to the organizers, those who wish to vote for Arap Uria have between October 4 and Friday, November 4 to cast their votes .

Winners in different categories will be awarded in a colorful ceremony scheduled to take place on December 4 in Port Harcourt City, Nigeria.

Earlier this year, Drury recognized Arap Uria’s efforts, disclosing that he enjoys his commentary and hopes to meet him in future.

The Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) alumni also made a breakthrough in August when he landed a project with the world football governing body for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup to be staged in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.
