8 Terror Suspects Arrested, Powerful Device Recovered

8 terror suspects were on Sunday evening arrested in Nairobi and locked up at Pangani Police Station.

A team of officers led by Sergeant Abdinassir Noor intercepted a car ferrying the suspects along General Waruinge road in Eastleigh after members of the public alerted the police.

A powerful VHF Motorola communication gadget was found in their Land cruiser.

Confirming the arrests, Starehe OCPD Benard Nyakwaka said that the police had began investigations to determine how long the gadget had been in use and where the group acquired the communication device.

Nyakwaka also added that they were yet to establish the identities of those arrested since only three out of the eight had national identification cards.

"We are yet to establish if indeed the IDs are genuine. There were also some other IDs in the vehicle bearing different names and we are carrying out investigations on the same," he said.

The suspects were later handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit for further interrogation.
