Motorists using Lang'ata Road between the U-turn to Lang'ata Hospital and Langata Barracks Roundabout have been directed to use alternative routes on Sunday, September 9 due to the scheduled road operations.

In a statement on Tuesday, September 4, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced the closure to pave way for the erection of a footbridge.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Langata Road, between the U-turn to Langata Hospital and Langata Barracks Roundabout will be closed on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 5.00 am to 5.00 pm (12 hours)," read part of the statement.

KeNHA noted that the new footbridge will enhance pedestrian safety on the busy road.

Additionally, motorists have been asked to liaise with the police and traffic marshals on site to follow the laid-out management plan.

"The installation of the footbridge is to enhance pedestrians' safety on the busy road. KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," the statement read on.

The traffic advisory also provided alternative routes for motorists using the road to avoid inconveniences.

Motorists heading towards City Centre are advised to take Kungu Karumba Road then take Kitengela Road towards Langata Hospital and back to Lang'ata Road.

Additionally, motorists heading towards Bomas and Karen are advised to take the U-turn towards Lang'ata Hospital through Kitengela Road then proceed to Kungu Karumba road and finally back to Lang'ata Road at Barracks Roundabout.

This advisory comes a week after another section of Lang'ata road was closed for 12 hours to install another footbridge near T-Mall.

"The installation of the footbridge is to ensure a continuous pedestrian walk away," the notice read.
