A tycoon in Mombasa County, has dragged his ex-wife and business partner to court in a bid to control a Ksh628 million property.

The tycoon wanted the Mombasa Law Courts to direct his ex-wife to surrender the property or of equal value to the court.

Notably, the ex-wife is a dual citizen of Kenya and the United Kingdom. The two had joint bank accounts in Mombasa and Nairobi.

He has also accused his estranged wife of illegally transferring funds from the joint fixed account to her personal account in 2019.

"There was no agreement for her to have 50 per cent shareholding in the company, she took advantage of her position to allocate herself one share which she has never paid for, she also did not contribute to the capital of the company," the man told the court.

According to the man, the wife took advantage of her position as a lawyer to slyly transfer the funds to her account.

She also allegedly transferred funds to her late father's account before their separation in 2019.

Furthermore, he has also demanded Ksh624 million in compensation for the losses the business incurred.

This is following the discovery that the wife's relatives had communicated with the bank both orally and in written form to bar him from accessing his funds.

A move the tycoon noted led to high losses in 2020 when he needed to acquire necessary testing kits during the pandemic.

"The company affairs were paralysed and ground to a halt and its business operations ceased," the tycoon lamented to the court.

The angry man told the court that no meeting had been held between him and the ex-wife to draft the way forward.

Furthermore, the man sought to gain full access to the company's bank account in Mombasa and Nairobi.
