Four suspects are behind bars in connection with a viral video that showed robbers ransacking a tour drive vehicle in Samburu.
A statement by the National Police Service (NPS) on Wednesday, October 12, indicated that the four were cornered while fleeing.
The quartet had been captured on the clip robbing tourists at the Buffalo Springs Natural Swimming Pool in Isiolo County.
"Police have arrested four suspected robbers believed to be part of the group who attacked and robbed tourists of their valuables at a game drive within Buffalo Springs Natural Swimming Pool in Isiolo County. The incident was captured on camera, whose clip has since gone viral.
"Following leads, police caught up with them at Arches Post Merti Junction, Samburu East as they were fleeing," read the police statement in part.
The four are set to be arraigned in court on Thursday, October 13, and are facing charges relating to robbery with violence.
A manhunt has been launched against other accomplices who are still at large.
"On further investigations, the police recovered one camera, make panasonic lumix.
"The suspects are under police custody helping with investigations and to be arraigned to court tomorrow on charges of robbery with violence. Other accomplices at large, still being pursued," added the statement.
In the clip, the victims are heard pleading with the robbers to spare the tourists while they were ransacking the car.
At some point, a voice is heard asking them to leave them at least Ksh2,000 as miscellaneous for their game drive operations.
One of the robbers admitted that they ambushed the vehicle in search of money and did not intend to harm the individuals.
