Former president, Uhuru Kenyatta, travelled to Nigeria to review the performance of the country's Cabinet.
The former head of state graced a two-day ministerial review where he was expected to share his experience and the intrigues behind handing over power to his successor, President William Ruto.
At the conference, Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari stated that he invited the former head of state to help the Nigerian government with its transition.
Nigerians are expected to head to the polls on February 25, 2023, with Buhari exiting office. Among those seeking to succeed Buhari include Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
"I am particularly delighted to welcome His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, the immediate former President of the Republic of Kenya and members of his delegation, and especially thank him for honouring our invitation to be the keynote speaker at this retreat.
"We look forward to hearing about your experience especially around the last months prior to the handover to your successor," he stated.
Further, Uhuru was also expected to speak on cementing legacies with Buhari's government taking stock of its achievements ahead of the February 2023 elections.
The two-day conference began on Monday, October 18.
It was not yet indicated whether Uhuru would jet back to the country immediately or spend more days in the West African country.
The Nigerian tour was his first official visit outside Kenya as the country's former president.
Uhuru kept a low profile after handing over power to Ruto on Tuesday, September 13. He has, on countable occasions, seen in public engaging with diplomats and other Kenyans.
Prior to his trip to Nigeria, he postponed travelling to South Africa to act as a mediator between the warring Ethiopian government and Tigray rebels.
Uhuru cited conflicting schedules while asking for more information to be availed between the wrangling groups.
