TV47 news anchor, Elizabeth 'Lizah' Mutuku, on Tuesday, October 18, expressed her gratitude to the Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, for nominating her to the National Assembly

Despite missing out on the slot, Mutuku affirmed that her nomination indicated Kalonzo's faith in nurturing the future generation of leaders.

She also hailed him as a father figure in her political career, acknowledging Wiper for considering her in such a competitive political party list.

"With a full and grateful heart, I thank the Wiper Party, Leader Hon. Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka,"

"I extend my sincere and deepest gratitude to the party officials who demonstrated faith in forwarding my name and making it into the final shortlist."

"Having been in a volatile, sometimes treacherous political terrain, I fully know well someone’s name does not end up in a clogged list of the political party by accident," she added.

Mutuku also detailed indispensable lessons she learnt after the Wiper party leader took her under his wing, stating that she can now conduct herself with decorum, and engage in robustly profitable politics devoid of mudslinging and name-calling.

She added that she can reward loyalty and those who stake out for her.

The anchor also learnt to appreciate individuals who make personal sacrifices and the ever-rewarding value there is in keeping family closer.

She, however, faulted a section of party members who disputed her nomination owing to her novice nature.

Mutuku added that such politicians ought to extend a helping hand to the newcomers to aid them in their subsequent roles.

"I do not begrudge those who felt I was too young or naive to represent the great party in the National Assembly. They, too, will discover someday, that you don’t have to blow someone’s candle to light yours and that there’s something good for every one of us."

"The party will navigate these contours and be able to stem such tides in the future. With the able leadership of H.E. Dr. SKM, the party is destined for Greatness and unprecedented growth," she noted.

Mutuku was nominated alongside Royal Media Services journalist, Jacqueline Kalenga, to top up the gender deficit in the Senate.

On Wednesday, September 21, Kalenga took her oath of office to serve as a Member of the County Assembly in Kitui
