Outspoken lawyer Miguna Miguna, who arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) earlier in the day, were among the politicians invited to the Mashujaa Day Celebrations.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife, Dorcas Rigathi arrived at the event at 10.40 am and were received by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.
President Ruto, on the other hand, arrived at 11.00 am and proceeded to inspect the guard of honour.
The Mashujaa day fete is aimed at recognising men and women for their roles and efforts in making a difference in society.
The president is set to honour 230 heroes for their historic achievements in their various sectors.
The celebrations will mark Ruto's first National day celebrations as president as Kenyans will anticipate the Head of State to address key issues affecting them.
The National Day Celebrations come at a time when Ruto's Cabinet Secretaries nominees are undergoing the vetting process by the National Assembly Committees for approval.
The celebrations come against the backdrop of Kenyans grappling with the high-cost of living owing to the rise of high commodities and goods.
