Only those who dare to dream and actualise their opportunities ever get to witness their wildest ambitions come to fruition.
In the case of Veronica Mumira, her dream, which some may have termed as far-fetched, came to reality as she recently launched her own international institution, Auscare International College as well as Georgia Luxury Apartments.
Speaking to Chams Media, Mumira noted how a dream birthed in 2019 came to reality. She works as a nurse and also runs her own staffing agency in Perth City, Australia.
She noted that her passion was always driven by the need to give back to the community, hence she sought to establish a school where she would ply her traits and impart knowledge to her successors.
She noted that the international college, located in Nyali Mombasa County, works with different cohorts of clients to give the students various perspectives when handling patients.
"My passion was always to bring back my skills as a nurse to Kenya. Auscare international college is a sister company to Auscare group in Australia. The group began in 2009. Auscare is a registered trading organisation from which we brought the college to Kenya."
"We offer three individual support; where the students will be looking after the elderly, disability and community clients and the diploma of community science is all about case management working with different cohorts of clients from the prison system, disability clients, and drug addicts. It's an inclusive education system," she stated.
According to Emilia Lingi, the principal of the international-based college, the institution offers a curriculum that is certified in both Australia and Kenya hence students can hone their craft in the Land Down Under.
"We currently have trainers that have the knowledge of the standards that we bring from Australia. The college is Technical And Vocational Education And Training Authority (TVET) registered to mean that the qualification is recognised not only in Australia but in Kenya. This means that once you get your certificate you can work in Kenya and in Australia," Lingi pointed out.
Further, Mumira launched Georgia Luxury Apartments in Mombasa, located along the Mombasa-Malindi road. The apartment block is hailed for its beautiful scenery-oceanic view.
Georgia Luxury Apartments consist of seven floors and 28 three-bedroomed units. According to the nurse, the price of a three-bedroomed unit costs an average of Ksh17 million to Ksh24 million. In addition, a five-bedroomed penthouse suite costs Ksh95 million per unit.
She affirmed that the apartment block was already 50 percent sold out at the time.
Mumira's secret to success was based on savings for a 20-year period to build the multi-million apartment block.
