Five more officers attached to the disbanded Special Service Unit (SSU) were arrested over the ongoing probe of the mysterious disappearance of two Indian nationals and their driver.

Sources privy to the matter, who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, intimated that the five cops were part of the 21 that were initially summoned to appear before the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) detectives.

The suspects will be arraigned in court on Thursday, October 27, as the probe into the Indians' whereabouts continues.

The Indian nationals, Media mogul Zulfiqar Khan, Mohamed Zaid and taxi driver Nicodemus Mwania have been missing since July 2022.

The two Indians were to be part of President William Ruto's campaign team prior to their disappearance.

The four DCI cops who were initially arrested claimed foul play in the probe.

Through their lawyer, Danstan Omari, the officers claimed that they were faulted for declining to fix some of their seniors in the case.

According to Omari, the officers were allegedly promised to be put under witness protection if they complied with the demands.

The lawyer claimed that he read malice into the alleged witchhunt of his clients as the investigations were yet to be completed.

He alleged that some external forces sought his clients to remain behind bars and become the fall guys for the mysterious disappearance.

The four DCI officers, who were arraigned at the Kahawa Law Courts on Wednesday, October 26, were dealt a huge blow after Chief Magistrate Diana Mochache dismissed an application by the defence seeking to bar IAU from probing the cops.

The magistrate, however, affirmed that the unit did not have the mandate to press charges against the officers.
