President William Ruto set out conditions to be met by the newly-sworn in cabinet secretaries in the execution of their mandate.

While addressing the CSs at State House Nairobi, the head of state reiterated the need for his cabinet to adhere to the oath of office.

He explained that service delivery to Kenyans was one of the main components of the oath.

The president warned against favouritism towards friends and family noting that the public offices demanded professionalism.

"I know that there are regional persuasions but I have not appointed any Cabinet Secretary for any county or community. I have appointed a Cabinet for Kenya to be served equally.

"I have listened to you carefully, and you have sworn to serve the people, I did not hear anyone swear to serve their friends, families or religions. That is the minimum expected of all of us," he stated.

Further, he called on the families of the CSs to be patient with his cabinet noting that a majority will be working overtime to ensure that the Kenya Kwanza agenda is implemented.

In that regard, the head of state promised to be firm with his Cabinet even as he cited a scripture.

"I will conclude James 4:17, which says he who knows what is right and doesn't do it, it is counted to them as a sin. Good people we have agreed on what is right, so if you don't do it you will not only miss heaven but you will also have a problem with me," Ruto stated.

He also encouraged the CSs to have an open-door policy and be available to listen to problems facing Kenyans.

Additionally, he called on the 22 CSs to be each other's keepers and always correct each other for mistakes done in their ministries.

"I want to plead with you. We have an agenda for the whole country and the people of Kenya are very expectant on the delivery of our plan, programme and the transformation of our nation," he stated.
