CBC Team Announces Dates & Venues for Kenyans to Share Views

The Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms has invited Kenyans to participate in the public participation process scheduled to commence on Tuesday, November 1.

According to a notice released by the task force reviewing the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC), its members will traverse the 47 counties in two weeks to engage Kenyans on the changes they want to be reflected. 

The Raphael Munavu-led task force further announced the designated venues for the exercise and the stipulated time in each county. 

"Our teams shall accordingly be visiting and available to receive views from various stakeholders at the dates, times and venues listed in the schedule.

"All public engagements in the counties will be conducted from 8.00 am. to 4.00 pm. in the venues shown," part of the notice read. 

On Tuesday, November 1, the task force will camp in Kwale (Kwale High School), Taita Taveta (CDF Hall, Mwatate), Marsabit (Moi Girls) and Nyandarua (Nyandarua High School). 

The working party will also interact with the public in the counties of Turkana (Lodwar Boys), Kericho (Kericho Teachers College), Busia (Lwanya Special School), Migori (Migori Teachers College), Mandera (Mandera Secondary School) and Samburu (St. Irene Secondary).

Mombasa- (Coast Girls), Makueni (Makueni Boys), Nyeri (Nyeri High), Elgeyo Marakwet (Tambach Teachers College), Bungoma (St Teresa Sio Secondary), Nyamira (Sironga Girls), Homa Bay (Homa Bay Boys). 

Friday, November 4

Isiolo (Isiolo Girls), Wajir (Wajiir High) and Laikipia (CDF Hall, Nanyuki).

Monday, November 7

Kilifi (St Thomas), Kitui (Kitui Multipurpose Hall), Kirinyaga Kerugoya Girls), Bomet (Twenek Boys), Trans Nzoia (St Monica Girls), Kakamega (Kakamega High) and Kisii (Kisii University).

Tuesday, November 8

Meru (Meru Teachers College), Garissa (NEP Girls), Baringo ( KSG Baringo).

In addition, the chairperson reminded members of the public to give their views either in writing or verbally to the task force through the email secretariat@educationreforms(dot)go(dot)ke. 

President William Ruto instituted the task force in response to the myriad of concerns raised regarding the efficiency of the CBC.

Notably, the newly sworn-in Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu reiterated the need for public participation in a bid to augment the curriculum.
