Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni’s, son Muhoozi Kainerugaba invited President William Ruto for a special meeting centred on the unity of East Africans and the continent at large.
Muhoozi revealed that his father allowed him to set the stage for the African Unity Conference.
“I'm glad to announce that our Supreme Commander of the Revolution, Yoweri Museveni, has allowed us to have a 'Patriotic Youth Conference' in the next few weeks.
"It will be a great time to interact,” Muhoozi announced.
Other heads of state Muhoozi reached out to included Samia Suluhu (Tanzania), Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), Muhamad Buhari (Nigeria), Abdel El-Sisi (Egypt), Salva Kiir (South Sudan) and his father, Yoweri Museveni.
South African opposition leader, Julius Malema, known for activism coalescing around a united Africa, was also invited.
“We shall have guest speakers from all over the world. We are struggling for a better world.
"The Ugandan Revolution under the guidance of Museveni will provide answers for the young generation,” Muhoozi stated.
While dishing out his daily dose of parage of tweets, the army general exuded confidence that Africa will soon be united under one president, even as he embarks on a rough journey to take over the mantle of leadership from his father.
It was unclear whether General Muhoozi’s much-hyped conference was among the many controversial events and pledges he has made in the recent past.
Early October 2022, General Muhoozi threatened to invade and take control of Nairobi in under two weeks of military incursion. The threats sparked uproar, nearly creating a diplomatic tiff between Kenya and Uganda.
Ugandan President Museveni unreservedly apologised to Kenyans and President Ruto and, consequently, dropped his son from the position of Commander of Land Forces.
Kenyan lawyer and former CEO of the Law Society of Kenya, Apollo Mboya, however, filed a petition seeking the arrest of Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Mboya accused Museveni's son of treason.
