Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi differed over who is culpable for the challenges Kenyans are currently experiencing occasioned by drought.
Speaking while supervising distribution of relief food in Machakos County, the former Amani National Congress (ANC) leader indicated that a time has come for leaders to put elections behind them and focus on serving Kenyans.
Mudavadi indicated that if the leaders in power continue with the blame game, they will not be able to help Kenyans who have given them the mandate and power to serve them.
"Now we must put behind us the blame game because if we engage in the blame game, sooner or later the currency of blame game will end," said Mudavadi.
Mudavadi's sentiments over the weekend are likely to be seen as an attack to the Deputy President who has publicly blamed former president Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga for the woes Kenyans are currently facing.
But even after Mudavadi's calls on Saturday, Gachagua, on while speaking in a church service on Sunday, November 6, still blamed Uhuru Kenyatta for the failed economy and the hunger and drought Kenyans are currently facing.
Gachagua also blamed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the challenges that Kenyans experienced during Uhuru's tenure.
"Had he not left the opposition and come to confuse the government, he would have stopped a lot of things including extrajudicial killings, state capture, conflict of interest and the stealing of public funds," Gachagua said.
However, Mudavadi warned that the currency of blame game is going to end fast and the faster elected leaders settle into their jobs and start serving Kenyans, the better for the country.
According to Mudavadi, it is important for Kenyan leaders to steer clear of blaming previous regimes and focus on delivering services to Kenyans who elected them during the August 9 elections.
Kenyans in over 21 counties, including Nairobi City county are experiencing unprecedented levels of hunger due to the drought situation.
The government launched a relief food distribution program across all the affected counties to help families affected by hunger and starvation.
