Just days after Lurambi MP Titus Khamala confirmed that he is working closely with President William Ruto, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is yet again on verge of losing another key legislator.

Suba South MP Caroli Omondi on Tuesday, November 15, publicly defended his relationship with the President.

The lawmaker affirmed that he does not need permission from anyone in order to work with Ruto.

“I don’t need anybody’s permission to work with the government. My intention is to work with people who can help me transform the lives of Suba South residents,” he revealed.

Caroli became the first ODM legislator from Nyanza to outrightly confirm that he will work with the Kenya Kwanza government to deliver development projects to his constituents.

The MP, who has had a long term relationship with the President, noted that he will use his good rapport with government officials to lobby for development projects.

In particular, Caroli wanted the government to complete the stalled Mbita-Sori-Magunga road.

“This road has stalled and for it to be completed, I have to use my connections in the government and mobilise resources for doing the work,” he noted.

Omondi also did hit out at MPs who criticised him for accompanying ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo on a food distribution exercise.

“What is wrong if we distribute food to vulnerable families who are suffering? We must focus on the interest of the people,” Omondi said.

Caroli's decision to work with President Ruto comes just days after Titus Khamala visited President William Ruto at State House.

Bishop Khamala was on Sunday, November 13, forced to clear the air after trooping to the House on the Hill in company of other lawmakers from the Western region on Friday, November 11.
