An embattled tycoon counted his losses after he was evicted from a prime three-acre property in Muthaiga, Nairobi County, estimated to be worth Ksh555 million.
In a bid to reclaim the property, the tycoon penned a letter to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki seeking redress.
According to the businessman, four armed officers from the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) stormed into his property on October 29, 2022, with instructions to evict him from the prime land.
He claimed that the armed policemen were reinforced by 15 others who later arrived on a lorry.
“We seek the intervention of your good office in this matter and request that your office directs investigations and prosecution of all parties in the state employment responsible for the illegal and forceful eviction of our personnel and trespass onto our property," part of the letter stated.
The tycoon also urged Kindiki to order the police officers to leave the premises.
In addition, the businessman claimed that the police officers defied a court order which placed an injunction on the eviction until the case was finalised.
“When the head of the RDU, Mr. Lawrence Owino, was called, he informed us that he was under instructions to protect the property from possible trespassers," read part of the letter addressed to the CS.
The businessman claimed to have purchased the prime property in July 2016 from Arthur Magugu, former Finance Minister during the late president Daniel Moi era.
He also alleged that the alteration of records at the land registry made it difficult to trace the disputed piece of land ownership documents.
According to past court documents, the Magugu family bought the disputed piece of land in 1982.
However, two other Kenyans claimed to have purchased the land at Ksh320 million in 2013.
