Former Nairobi governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, on Saturday, November 19, applauded her adopted daughter, Janet Kaingi, following her graduation.

Kaingi graduated from Daystar University, where she pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Business Logistics and Procurement.

Sonko revealed that his family took in Kaingi following the loss of her parents in Nzeluni Village in Mwingi, Kitui County.

"She's lived with us as our adopted daughter since then, we have taken her through school, and today my family wishes to celebrate her with a special message as she graduates," Sonko's message read in part.

The former Nairobi boss added that Kaingi was warmly welcomed by his family and sponsored through all her level of education, where she posted stellar performances.

"You have been part of our family from a tender age. We have seen you achieve milestones from Baraka Primary School Buruburu to Arya Girls Parklands and today graduating with a Bachelors of Business Logistics and Procurement from Daystar University," Sonko added.

However, Sonko encouraged his adopted daughter to continue making their family proud even after graduating

"We would never be more proud as your parents. Keep making us proud even as you step out into the real world, and always remember you have a family in ours," Sonko concluded.

In 2021, the outspoken politician also celebrated his adopted son Gift Osinya who excelled during the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KSCE) at Lenana High School.

Sonko announced that Osinya had scored B- in KCSE. Osinya was adopted by the former Nairobi Senator following a terror attack in a church in Likoni, Mombasa County, in 2014, where his mother was one of the casualties.

"After scoring an impressive 399 marks in KCPE four years ago, he proceeded to Lenana School in Nairobi for his secondary education where he has made us proud again by scoring an impressive B - (minus) in his KCSE.

"Even though as a family we were expecting an A from him, we thank God for his good grades that now guarantee him a place in one of the public universities where he can pursue the career of his dreams," wrote Sonko.

The vocal politician gifted Osinya a convertible Mercedes Benz after his impressive performance.
