Royal media Services (RMS), which owns Citizen TV emerged top during the 2022 Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) annual awards.
During the event, RMS' digital platform, Citizen Digital, was announced as the top in the media innovation category.
After receiving the award, Jennifer Maina, Digital Sales Executive at RMS described it as the biggest achievement for the platform.
“It is a big win for Citizen Digital. We are happy. Citizen Digital is the best if not the biggest thing,” she stated.
Speaking during the event, Citizen TV news anchor Waihiga Mwaura who was elated at the company's performance affirmed that the award was worth it since they had worked hard for it.
“It is great to get this acknowledgment from the team that worked hard, worked smart to win this innovation category in a media space that is rapidly changing. This is very exciting. We look forward to the coming year, new products, and new services. We are very excited,” he stated.
The MSK Gala 2022 awards happened at Sarit Center and it was also a celebration to mark 60 years of revolutionizing marketing.
This year's Gala theme was "60 years of greatness: revolutionizing fun, funk and soul."
In June, Citizen Digital scooped the Best Brand and Rebrand for Digital Award after being distinguished for successfully rebranding, further cementing itself as Kenya's leading news site.
This was during the fifth edition of the Digital Media Awards (DMA) held at the Movenpick Hotel in Westlands, Nairobi.
Following rapid growth in the media space, Citizen digital app was launched in October 2021.
RMS Managing Director, Wachira Waruru described it as a way of embracing revolution and stated that it was an easy way of feeding content to the audience all under one roof.
“We have plans to expand our offering and this will have a very strong digital component. And in this environment the Citizen digital app will be central because all our digital apps will come under one roof and provide a seamless engagement with our content,” he stated.
