How do you make your house a home for the holidays?

While getting your house ready to show off to holiday visitors can be a tough ask, it is prudent that once in a while, we outdo ourselves especially over Christmas.

To get your home with the Christmas vibe you may consider the following;

Festive Entry Lighting

You could do this by wrapping your entry gate, or door with outdoor-rated LED bulbs for a brighter, longer-lasting glow.

Complete the scene with berry-like balls and greenery for a lighthearted twist on the traditional holiday welcome.

Decide on a new light fixture or two.

New lighting can completely transform the look and feel of a space.

Having a light fixture replaced is usually a quick and easy job — an electrician can typically get it done in about an hour, more if you’re relocating the fixture or if you want to add a light where none currently exists.

Try replacing your old dining room fixture with a beautiful pendant light, pair of lanterns or change out the row of lights above your kitchen island.

Put up picture shelves

Instead of putting up a gallery wall of artwork, take a different approach and install a row of picture shelves instead.

The horizontal lines give the display structure so you can mix and match the sizes and shapes of frames as much as you wish.

Revamp your entryway

This is the first thing visitors see when they enter your home.

Considering that the entryway is key to a good impression, ensure guests have a spot to kick off their shoes, hang up coats, and set down packages or purses inside the door.

Revamp your entry area with a small rug, boot tray, and stylish storage baskets for dirty clothes.

Once the basics are in place, incorporate seasonal artwork and decor or vases of flowers for an extra festive touch.

Clear out the mess

With all the extra time at home, many of us have accumulated a lot of stuff over the past several months.

Clearing out excess litter can instantly make your home look more polished and presentable.

Throw away or donate any unwanted or unnecessary items, and put away everything else in its rightful place.

Refresh Your Walls

One of the quickest and easiest ways to give your home a refresh is to touch up the paint.

Restore the dingy walls with a fresh coat of paint to give the room(s) a whole new look.

If without paint, you could use brushes and rollers to clean your walls so they're free of scuffs, stains, or dust.

Family Christmas photo ideas

The holidays are a perfect time to come together and spend quality time with our loved ones.

From Christmas all the way through New Year’s Day, you can anticipate having some great family memories.

Ideas like heading to a photo studio to document your baby’s first Christmas tree experience, capturing candid moments of your family decorating the house for the holidays, or even taking the traditional route with a family photo that catches you all dolled up and looking your holiday best.

These are some of the ways to make your family photo ideas interesting during this holiday season.

City Christmas Photos

Celebrating Christmas in the big city? You could take advantage of the unique streets and parks for a stylish and urban photo shoot.

Parks such as the newly revamped Uhuru Park in Nairobi, Mama Ngina Waterfront park in Mombasa or the Machakos Peoples Park offer the best venues to indulge your family in photo sessions and get the feel of an outing photo.
