English, Kiswahili recorded the highest improvement in comparison to the 2021 KCSE results.

9443 students scored above 400 marks. Those who scored between 300 and 399 marks were 307,756 students while those who scored between 200 to 299 were 699,593 students.

On his part, KNEC Chief Executive Officer, David Njengere, noted that the examination ran smoothly noting that no major malpractice was reported during the examinations.

"KNEC remains committed to delivering credible examinations and upholding integrity in the certification process," he stated.

At the event, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) boss Nancy Macharia urged teachers to apply for positions that had been announced by the government as she acknowledged the role they played in overseeing the examinations.

She confirmed that teachers have until December 23, 2022, to apply for the 30,000 vacancies noting that it was the biggest recruitment drive since 1997.

"30,550 new teacher recruits, that is 9,000 on permanent and pensionable terms and 21,550 teacher interns will be posted to handle the JSS before the opening of next term. The Commission will mount a robust capacity building for teachers to handle the JSS," she announced.
