Modern Coast bus company sought alternative means of travel for passengers who had booked their travel tickets instead of refunding cash following the suspension of their operating license

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Monday, January 2, a staffer at the troubled bus company confirmed that passengers had been rebooked with other vehicles.

However, he did not reveal whether the passengers would travel at the same time indicated on their tickets.

"Passengers reached out to us and a number of them have already arrived at their destinations. We have partnered with other companies which I cannot disclose at now," he stated.

Responding to some of the inquiries by the clients, the social media team assured Kenyans that it had not booked them with the old country buses.

On January 1, Modern Coast asked passengers with advance tickets to visit the nearest booking office on the date they were scheduled to travel.

Meanwhile, the company lauded the support and loyalty of its clientele. It assured them that the current predicaments they face were just a phase.

"Unlike some relationships, our relationship with our customers is like that of Romeo and Juliet. Strong like the great China walls.

"Every year comes with its challenges and wins, and you’ve been with us every step of the way. Whatever 2023 brings, we’ll enjoy it together. The doors which were closed shall be opened," the transport firm stated.

Despite the suspension of its license by Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Modern Coast clarified that operations along international routes would go on.

These include the Nairobi-Kampala, Nairobi-Kigali, and Nairobi-Bujumbura and back routes. Local routes remain inaccessible.

Nonetheless, the parcel services within the country remain operational.
