Renowned philanthropist Karangu Muraya came to the rescue of a young boy- Maina - who went viral after explaining his woes.

Speaking through social media, on Thursday, January 5, Karangu announced that one of his friends had volunteered to donate Ksh300,000 to build a good house for Maina and his family of eleven.

This was after he had also begun online fundraising to raise money in aid of the boy’s mother who had been languishing in poverty forcing the toddler to work in the Mitumba business.

“I have received a call from my great friend Naftaly of Hyssop Properties who has promised to support the family with Ks300,000 on Monday for us to start construction of a nice house,” he announced.

Speaking in support of the same, Kameme FM presenter Muthee Kiengei stated that he would make sure the boy goes back to school.

“With our partners DAMA mobile Spares, Davil Water Solutions, and Modern Furniture Pacific we will from next week ensure that this family through this boy Maina will taste the goodness in the land of the living.

The most important thing as we construct their house is to keep Maina in school,” he stated.

The Mediamax journalist also warned bloggers to stop using the kid for their own gain.

“To those bloggers who stormed Maina’s home yesterday, don't only use him for your YouTube gains, next week bring something in his support,” he noted.

In the viral clip seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the boy was heard explaining how he survives on Mitumba business as he also hilariously spoke about his religion.

“I am Maina and I attend Wakorino church. I only tie the turban on Sundays because the pastor is only a friend, my God is in heaven.

I am in class one and I work in the market in mitumba business with my friend Kamau. After getting paid I take the money to my mother,” the youngster explained.

He further added that he cannot give a single penny to his father because he is an alcoholic.

“I cannot give any amount to my father not unless you cut open my stomach. He is too much into alcohol and smoking. He doesn't help me in any way,” he uttered.
