President William Ruto on Wednesday, January 11, directed the over 1900 administration police graduates to plant at least 30 trees in their homes as a commemoration of their graduation.
While addressing a pass-out parade at the Embakasi A College, Ruto noted that the police officers have a responsibility to contribute to the efforts of making Kenya greener.
Further, he stated that his government had directed security agencies in Nairobi to initiate a campaign to plant over 10 million trees in Eastlands and other parts of the city.

The drive, Ruto added, would be instrumental in confronting the challenges facing Kenya and the world by extension to combat the challenge of global warming.
According to him, the government will roll out an initiative to plant trees in Nairobi's Eastlands area in partnership with the Nairobi County Government.
In addition, the President directed the commandant of the college to ensure that the next crop of recruits plant trees within the facility.
"We have a major problem in matters of our environment in Kenya and the world at large.
“I have requested the commandant of this campus and other stakeholders in the security sector to help us plant over 10 million trees in Nairobi.
His directive came at a time Kenya was aiming to achieve its tree-planting goals. Soon after assuming the presidency, Ruto embarked on a mission of protecting the environment, promising to oversee the planting of over 10 million trees in 10 years.
He also took his ambition a notch higher as he aimed to lobby Africa into planting trees amid the adversities occasioned by climate change.
Consequently, Ruto was elected the Chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change and made a keynote address at the COP27 held in Egypt.
On his 56th birthday, the President planted 56 trees to mark his age in what he stated was a precedent for Kenyans in general.
