Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi promised the nation that President William Ruto will release the dossier of individuals behind the alleged plot to abduct and murder former IEBC chairman, Wafula Chebukati, in due course.
Speaking during an interview on NTV on Thursday, January 20, Mudavadi expressed that the allegations made by the President would be proven at the right time.
He expressed that Ruto was intentional with his claims, refuting allegations by the opposition, who argued that the murder plot was fabricated.
Mudavadi was responding to questions about why Ruto was yet to reveal the identities of the suspects given that the matter is of national interest.
He also added that the way forward into investigations would be detailed in due course.
"The President never speaks in vain. We should appreciate that. All I can tell you is that time will tell. I cannot predict how long the process will take, but I can tell you that time will tell," he stated.
On his side, he alleged that junior officials from the electoral body were also targeted in the scheme, asserting that they feared for their lives more than senior IEBC staff.
"As a people, we must ask ourselves how this should never happen again. What happened in 2007 (Post Election Violence) was forgotten. We need soul-searching moments," Mudavadi stated.
Mudavadi became the second senior Kenya Kwanza administration official to speak on the matter after the head of state.
While meeting with officials from independent institutions on January 17, Ruto alleged that the plan behind the abduction and consequent murder of the chairman was to cripple the commission and see presidential results changed.
However, Ruto's failure to name individuals involved saw him come under sharp criticism from Azimio la Umoja, who dared him to prove his claims.
"I'm hoping the people making them will appear before the yet-to-be-formed commission of inquiry and provide the evidence backing these allegations," Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna commented.
