The United States of American government on Saturday, January 21, called on Kenyan students to apply for scholarship opportunities.

In a statement that was posted on the official Twitter account of the US Embassy in Nairobi, the call asked the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education 2022 candidates who received their results on Friday, January 20, to apply for the study opportunities.

"Congratulations to all KCSE candidates on your results! If you are a top student wanting to take your higher learning studies to the United States, apply for the 2023 Education USA Scholars Program," US Embassy in Nairobi explained.

The US Embassy in Nairobi also provided details that students could use to apply for the scholarship opportunities.

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidates were called upon to click the link, bit(dot)ly/3kz25pF, and submit their details accordingly.

"You will be required to have an active email address to fill this form; you can only begin working on the form after your email address is verified.

"By providing your email address to access the form, you are consenting to provide the EducationUSA office with your personal information and unaltered copies of the required documents," the US Embassy explained.

However, the Embassy was specific to the category of students who qualify for the EducationUSA Scholars Program.

"Students who sat their KCSE prior to November/December 2022 are not eligible," US Embassy in Nairobi warned.

At the same time, the US Embassy in Nairobi noted that the minimum score to join the program is an overall grade of A- in the KCSE.

"The program does not work with graduate students who have already completed their undergraduate education at local universities.

"(If you are hoping to study in the US as a graduate student, please reach out to the EducationUSA office for further advising)," US Embassy in Nairobi advised.

The US Embassy explained that students who scored less than 74 points in KCSE need not apply, and as such their applications will not be considered.

According to the US Embassy in Nairobi, EducationUSA Scholars Program is a college access program that seeks to identify, recruit, and assist 40 academically strong students to gain admission to universities in the United States.
