Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire on Sunday, January 23 threatened to go on record to reveal the names of tycoons funding ODM leader Raila Odinga's planned protest rallies.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at Kerugoya Stadium in Kirinyaga County, the governor disclosed that a meeting was recently held in Mombasa where resources for Monday's planned opposition rally were harnessed.

"I know the people who held a meeting in Mombasa to plan on how to bankroll Raila," Mbarire indicated while sounding a warning to the unnamed individuals.

"We want to tell them that they should stop and if they joke around, I will reveal their names. One day we shall reveal them. They should stop disturbing us," she continued.

Mbarire equally urged the former Prime Minister to retire from active politics as his age was catching up with him.

"Raila is now in his late 70s, he is a grandfather and must now know what is expected of him in his old age," Mbarire remarked.

The thanksgiving service was equally attended by other leaders including Tharaka Nithi boss Muthomi Njuki who urged President William Ruto to be cautious with the opposition leader.

"We do not understand how the leader of the opposition when outside the country speaks about Kenya while still planning demonstrations, we must audit these individuals.

"Do not look at Raila alone, he is surrounded by schemers who are blowing hot and cold. Do not focus on the wrong people," Njuki cautioned the President.

The Tharaka Nithi county boss also thanked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his efforts in uniting the Central region.

"We are glad that our deputy Gachagua has been reaching out to Jubilee elected members and those who did not succeed. We are glad as that should be the way to go towards a united region," he opined.

Equally, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro urged the opposition to play their oversight role and stop bashing the government on matters that will not eradicate the economic woes of ordinary Kenyans.

“I will ask for permission from our President if possible the government to take water and sodas there so that the demonstrators can take them as they continue with their demonstrations” the Kiharu MP stated.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Saturday, January 21 announced that he would resume his countrywide rallies that were halted late last year.

In November last year, Raila launched what he called public meetings in protest against what he termed poor performance by President William Ruto’s administration.

He later called off the planned rally for Jacaranda grounds on Jamhuri Day 2022.
