President William Ruto on Monday, January 23, stated that his government did not intend to enter into a post-election agreement with the Azimio coalition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during the funeral service of Pauline Nyokabi Kuria on Monday, January 23, Ruto stated that Azimio rallies were futile and were only done for personal gain.
Ruto added that despite denying wanting a handshake, Azimio Coalition leader Raila Odinga’s history stated otherwise.
“Don't tell us that you don't want a handshake. We see you and we know what you want. You will not get anything from me.
“The protests they're holding will not benefit Kenyans. They are doing it to serve their families and their businesses,” Ruto stated.
Ruto called upon members of the Azimio coalition to allow the government to serve Kenyans, adding the government already had plans in place to ensure that it fulfilled its promises to Kenyans.
“Irrespective of how they voted, I want to assure Kenyans that the government will serve them. We will not allow you to destroy the businesses that Kenyans have built” the President added.
Responding to Raila’s demand that records of the 2022 elections at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) are made public and audited by an impartial body, the President noted that all servers had already been opened and were accessible to the public.
“Chebukati and IEBC opened the server a long time ago. Form 34 A, B, and C, from all the polling stations, are on the portal. What other servers do they want to be opened?” Ruto questioned.
Raila Odinga on Monday, January 23, during the Kamukunji rally, claimed that the August 2022, election results released by the IEBC were inaccurate.
The Azimio leader was referring to findings by whistleblowers at the IEBC, that claimed that he had won the presidential elections.
“We do not recognise William Ruto as the president of Kenya and we equally do not recognise any officials in office with him,” Raila stated.
