There was a buzz on social media on Thursday, January 26, as Kenyans were marvelled by a rare cooker using a power bank to prepare food.

The cooker used low voltage to produce enough fire to heat food.

Mounted with two stoves, the cooker is fitted with knobs that determine the temperature of the ovens and stoves.

Beneath the cooker is a wiring link connecting a power bank to the motherboard, transferring voltage to the system.

"With one power bank and a 12-voltage rice cooker, you can cook 4 portions of rice. Then recharge with the sun for the next meal," the manufacturer explained.

The newly innovated cooker has four rings on top of the hob, similar to most gas cookers in many homes.

The power bank-based cooker comes in various models, from an oven with coiled heating elements on the range top to self-contained, portable grills.

"A single block for lightweight portability, or link together for the ultimate in portable power stations.

"It's also weatherproof for complete dust and rain resistance – hike, canoe, explore with complete peace of mind," the manufacturer explained the operation strength of its power bank.

The cooker's design allows easy installation, simple cleanup and a low operating cost in some situations.

On the cooker, food can be roasted in the oven or prepared on the top of the two range in pans mounted on the stove plate.

The power-bank-based cookers are designed to apply low electric voltage, heat water over a short period of time, and prepare quick meals.
