Family members of the businessman who drowned in Juja dam eulogised him in a brief three paragraphs consisting of nine lines during his burial on Friday, January 27.
According to some friends of the deceased, a comprehensive eulogy had been drafted but they were shocked to find the three paragraphs on the four-paged funeral program.
From the eulogy, it was clear that neither his wife nor his children were mentioned. The cause of his death was also not mentioned.Rescuers pull out the vehicle that plunged into Juja Dam on January 17, 2023.
In addition, those who attended the funeral noted that there was tension and very few speeches were made to honour the deceased.
The burial was held at his ancestral home at Gumba village in Mukurwe-ini constituency in Nyeri County.
"CELEBRATING THE MAN WHO WAS LOVING AND CARING
The late Tirus Maina was born in February 1984 at Mukurweini, Nyeri County. He was the third-born son of the late Joseph Gikonyo and Madrin Wangui. He was a loving brother to Jedidah Wangari, the late Judy Wairimu, Michael Mbore, Joyce Wanjiru, and Isaiah Mwangi.
The late started his school at Kariara Primary and moved to Rutune Primary then Dedan Kimathi University.
The late Tirus relocated to Thika where he started working as an engineer in 2006 with different companies in and out of the country until his demise," read the eulogy.
The deceased was in the company of a female friend when the car they were in plunged into the dam on Tuesday, January 17.
According to police reports, the car was found in drive mode suggesting that it may have been driven into the dam.
The mysterious lady who drowned together with the businessman was identified by her family a week after the incident.
