Dr Barbra Odudu-Magoha told friends and family how the former Education Cabinet Secretary (CS), the late George Magoha, stood with her during her difficult pregnancy.
Speaking at her Lavington on Tuesday, January 31, Barbra intimated that her pregnancy with .their only child, Michael, was a difficult one and left her fearing for her life.
However, Magoha stepped up and encouraged her to face her fears, as he did all through their marriage.
"When I was expecting my son, I was in between life and death because I had high blood pressure. My husband told me that pregnancy came with its challenges and ordered the 'case closed'," she recalled.
The medical doctor recalled delivering their only child safely before her husband, the late Magoha wholeheartedly took over his parenting responsibilities.
"I did not have any milk due to some complications. You would not believe that by 6.30 a.m, I had two litres of freshly squeezed fruit juice squeezed by him before he went to work," she recalled.
Magoha's widow, for the first time, shared their love story and the unusual manner in which the former Education boss proposed.
Despite being alive to the then-cultural beliefs in her home county, that a Nigerian would only marry within their locality, Magoha made his intentions clear and known.
"Exactly one month after we met, he started telling people that we are going to get married and that was the first we argued.
"He told me that he knew he was Kenyan and asked me to go and tell my people that there was no reason why he could not marry me," Barbra recalled.
She told friends that the former CS always put his family first and always assured her of his love for her. This, she claimed, was the quality that made him a great husband.
"Magoha used to tell me that he must go before you because if you go before me, I would not last," Magoha's wife eulogised.
The sentiments were made at their Lavington residence during a visit by former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Magoha's former cabinet colleagues.
