President William Ruto's cabinet approved the full rollout of the land digitisation programme - Ardhi Sasa which was initiated during his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta's reign.

In a cabinet dispatch dated Tuesday, January 31, the decision was based on a preliminary report of the pilot programme that was done in Nairobi county.

The Cabinet also noted that the move was based on the feedback that various stakeholders had given over the digitisation programme.

"Cabinet was apprised of the progress made to fully digitize land records within Nairobi City County. This pilot phase of the countrywide digitization project is part of the National Land Information Management System commonly known as Ardhi Sasa.

"To facilitate business continuity, and in response to feedback from stakeholders, Cabinet sanctioned the fact-tracked full rollout of Ardhisasa system," read the dispatch in part.

Ardhi Sasa was launched by Uhuru in April 2021 and the programme aimed at digitising all land records.

Through the platform, one can search for property, order a plan, transfer property and order a title deed.

On the other hand, Ruto's cabinet also discussed the digitisation of government services that were being implemented under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Programme (KDEAP).

The discussion centred around the unique digital number identifier which Ruto noted was better than the proposed Huduma Namba under Uhuru's regime.

"As part of the programme, the Administration seeks to automate the provision of over 5,000 Government Services within six months.

"Towards that end, the day's meeting noted that over the last month over 1,200 services have already been onboarded on e- Citizen," read the statement in part.

Other decisions ratified were the establishment of Digital Village Smart Hubs and Studios in each of the nation's 1,450 wards, and the laying of over 100,000 Kilometers of fibre optic cable among others.
