Media personality Shaffie Weru went through a life-changing moment that left him in depression after losing his job at Homeboyz Radio in 2021.

Shaffie resurfaced with his own show after a break of two years revealing how he had been evading interviews ever since his firing.

Speaking during the premiere of his show 'Shafted' on Tuesday, January 31, the celebrated radio host slammed Kenyan journalists for asking unnecessary questions during interviews instead of facing issues head-on.

“It has been two years of soul searching. I have been approached by many people asking to interview me but I believe in myself and no one can handle me as I expect. The last time I was interviewed I felt the interviewer did not ask what I want to be asked,” he noted.

Shaffie however noted that he only accepted one interview since the person who approached him meant a lot in his life.

“I have done only one interview since I was fired just because she was someone I had mentored into media.

I helped her get a job, molded her from Insider, she came to Radio Africa and became the best and youngest editor of the Star Magazine,” he revealed.

Commenting on the current state of media, the legendary radio presenter renounced any chance of venturing into media because he viewed it as a dead mode of business.

“If today I was making a business plan there is no way I can put money on TV or radio because you cannot afford the rates which are so high.

A lot has changed, when we started there was no other way of advertising. Then agents realized they are spending a lot of money in paying for adverts but making less hence withdrawing from media,” he added.

Addressing the current state of media that has been seeing mass lay-offs, the ex-Homeboyz presenter who made his name on Kiss 100 co-hosting the drive show with Kalekye Mumo noted that media was slowly dying.

After losing his job, he fell into depression which was later followed by a lonely life after his friends deserted him.

Shaffie was fired by Radio Africa-owned Homeboyz radio on March 27 2021  alongside his co-host Neville Musya and a popular Disc-jockey Joseph Munoru alias Dj Joe Mfalme over Gender-based violence utterances.
