NACADA Flags Fake Advert Announcing Permanent & Pensionable Jobs

The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) on Monday, January 6 flagged a fake advert advertising more than 1,000 jobs on behalf of the agency.

In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, NACADA advised the public to disregard the purported opportunities.

“Our attention has been drawn to the advertisement on purported vacancies at the authority,

Unsuspecting members of the public are further cautioned against falling prey to crooked individuals posing as employees of NACADA soliciting money from them in the name of securing them employment positions,” read part of the statement.

The authority held that it neither charged for any application nor engaged individuals to conduct the hiring of staff on its behalf.



“The authority always advertises all its vacancies through the My Gov pullout or newspapers of nationwide circulation,

“We advise the public to constantly confirm the validity of advertisements bearing the NACADA brand through our multiple official platforms,"

NACADA stated that their valid platforms were the website www(dot)nacada(dot)go(dot)ke and social media pages.

According to the fake job advert, applicants were asked to apply for the following permanent and pensionable positions; Social workers (264), Human Resource Officers (109), Procurement Officers (40), Plumbers (205), Auditors (94) among others.

To qualify for the vacancies announced, applicants were asked to;

1. Hold a diploma or certificate from a recognized institution

2. Be a Kenyan Citizen 18 years and above

3. Must be ready to show willingness to work with NACADA

4. Proof of no criminal record 

5. Must be ready to work in any part of the country

6. Be fluent in English or Kiswahili

Applicants had been asked to forward their applications on mail on or before February 6 at 4pm.

With the high rates of unemployment bedevilling the country, Kenyans are advised to be on the look out for such schemes to hoodwink them.

You can spot a fake job advert but keenly scrutinizing details of the advert including the requirements. For government agencies, the websites should have dot(go)dot(ke) domain. Emails should also be official, and not Gmail or Yahoo.

Fake job adverts also have exaggerated salary quotations. In addition, be on the lookout for fake logos or missing letterheads.
