Former Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) George Magoha lost his multi-million property to Nairobi landgrabbers, for a couple of days at least.

Speaking on Thursday, February 9, his former cabinet colleague Faridah Karoney revealed that Magoha found that the ownership of the prime land was transferred to an individual unknown to him.

The discovery irked the late former CS, who could not fathom that such would happen under the watch of his friend who was in charge of the docket.

Karoney revealed that it was the first time she saw her friend very upset.

"Once he lost his title deed and I thought he was going to beat me up because he was a very built man, but we were very close friends.

"He told me he had gone to City Hall and found that somebody had changed his title into his name. He asked me; Farida, how can I lose my title yet you are the CS Lands? " She recounted.

Karoney assured the immediate former Education boss that she would reverse the illegal transfer and safeguard his property for life.

"I told him that as long as I was in charge, his land would not be lost. I got his file, kept it in my office and ensured that it was digitised to ensure that his title would never be changed," the former CS recalled.

She added that the encounter was an indication that Magoha did not entertain mediocrity in public service, not even from his friends.

Karoney spoke during Magoha's requiem mass at the Consolata Church in Nairobi. The mass was also attended by current members of President William Ruto's cabinet.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu intimated that he and his predecessor enjoyed a friendship that transcended professional realms.

Machogu made public that Magoha appointed his son, Paul Machogu as his aide after he was picked to head the Ministry of Education.
