Former Makueni governor, Kivutha Kibwana, was shortlisted for chair of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) alongside 14 other applicants.
In a Public Service Commission (PSC) notice dated Tuesday, February 21, former CITAM Bishop David Oginde and renowned constitutional lawyer Charles Kanjama will also compete for the post.
Thomas Letangule, Eliud Wanjao, Isaac Kaberia, Amani Yuda, Abdihafid Abdullahi, Susan Nekesa and Benjamin Mure also made it to the list.
More applicants included were Kenneth Sakwa, Norah Chepkemoi, Josiah Onyancha, and Justa Wawura.
The 14 are eying to replace former Anglican Archbishop Eliud Wabukala whose term came to an end in January 2023.
In the PSC notice, it was indicated that 89 Kenyans applied for the job.
"Pursuant to sections 10 (1) of the ethics and anti-corruption commission (amendment) act, 2011 (amended 2015), the public service commission invited applications from suitably qualified Kenyans for the position of chairperson of EACC in the print media and commission’s website on January 20, 2023.
"The advert closed on February 2, 2023," read the statement in part.
Kibwana was scheduled to face the interviewing panel on Monday, February 27 at 3 pm whereas Oginde and Kanjama were listed for the Tuesday, February 28 interviews.
The shortlisted candidates were advised to carry with them their academic documents among other clearance certificates from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) among others.
Consequently, Kenyans were urged to submit their views and reservations on the candidature of the shortlisted candidates in due course.
"Members of the public are invited to avail any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates (through sworn affidavits) to the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission, 4th floor Commission House, Harambe Avenue, Nairobi or online through hodrands@publicservice (dot)go(dot)ke so as to be received on or before February 24, 2023," read the notice in part.
