Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, on Thursday, March 2, praised his wife, Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, while revealing how her calm demeanour sealed their union.

Addressing delegates during the launch of the Women Empowerment Fund at the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC), Gachagua complimented his wife, revealing that she was not a troublesome woman.

The second in command further stated that he does not spend too much on his best half since she was less demanding.

He revealed that he only spends Ksh3,000 on his wife’s hair amid cheers from the crowd.

“I had to look around before settling on Pastor Dorcas. She is calm,” Gachagua stated.

“In fact, she does not demand a lot from me, I only give her Ksh3,000 to do her hair and she is always satisfied with that,” he added.

In a previous interview, Pastor Dorcas revealed that she met Gachagua after breaching security protocol at an event her husband attended.

"When the President stood, I ran across in line with where he was. I did not know how it happened as it was God's way of doing things. He (Moi) started coming towards me and I bumped into him.

"That is where I met my husband as he was in charge of the delegation," she stated.

However, Gachagua lamented how economic downtime had affected most families. To address the challenge, the former Mathira lawmaker insisted that Ruto had hatched a plan to fix the economy.

“Our women need to be empowered so that they can have money to sustain their lives,” he stated.

“I request President William Ruto to focus on reviving the country’s economy which will benefit the citizens,” he added.

On the other side, President Ruto challenged women to sign up to the re-launched Women Enterprise Fund, a government initiative that provides women entrepreneurs with affordable credit and business support services.

Ruto stated that the initiative would help women access low-interest credit facilities to members of savings and credit cooperatives (Saccos) nationwide.
